As one great philosopher said "Hell is other people".

From Wikipedia [link]
Misanthropy is a general dislike, distrust, or hatred of the human species or a disposition to dislike and/or distrust other people. The term is also applicable to those who self-exile themselves or become loners because of the aforementioned feelings.

Amen to that...realizing the way humans treat animals and the planet, not to mention (perhaps especially) each other has pretty much made me into a misanthrope. However, I do believe humanity can be "surpassed" and redeemed, getting over their degenerate, predatory and destructive tendencies and "awakening" as something better, but obviously not everyone will go that way. There will always be nihilists, there will always be those who embrace the destruction, the filth, the corruption and the ugliness that humanity is capable of. And that's just plain sad.

So it's no small wonder why 90% of my protagonists are either aliens, supernatural creatures, or ponies.

i agree... i do believe humanity can overcome itself but some will be left behind, of their own choice.

And sadly, all these damn anti-stamps saying stuff like "animals have no rights," "I like humans better than animals," "animals are delicious," etc, and which are clearly just designed to make furries, otherkin and animal lovers butthurt, stamps like those, and how ridiculously popular they are on this site (as well as the infuriating popularity of anti-stamps in general) only fuels my misanthropy. In fact, I'd say the way a lot of people act on deviantART, self-righteously mocking and "outing" members of any group that they deem to be inferior, claiming those individuals are morally-degenerate, while at the same time embracing their own filth, depravity and degeneracy (a good example would be a 4chan troll who thinks all furries are "cancer" that deserve to be purged with fire, yet at the same time openly admits to getting off to underage Japanese schoolgirls,) effectively making them hypocrites. It's stuff like that that makes me completely sick of humanity, at least on the internet.

some people just like pissing others off. i don't often come across stamps like that but when i do, i take no notice. People who create such things aren't worth the time of day.
it is said that whatever you put out to the universe it comes back to you. good or bad energy, we create our own karma, so try not let people bother you. they'll get whatever they deserve :)

Yeah I ignore them for the most part too...but I guess you're right when you say they will get what's coming to them. I believe in karma too.

Wait, so if you hate humanity, do you also hate yourself because you are a part of humanity? I'm just curious.

i hate what people have done to this world, so many self-absorbed and just intentionally spiteful and hateful toward others. i do hate some people but not all.
no i don't hate myself. i just don't like being a part of this world and i trust few.

The only humans I love are the family and few friends (both off and online) that I have. Most other humans have lied to me, have betrayed me, stalked me and tried to do some downright unsavory things to me. That's why I have a hard time trusting most of humanity outside my family and friends. Because humanity scares me.
