Wolves and ravens make good companions :)

"In North America, a theory has developed surrounding a mutualistic relationship between ravens and wolves. Ravens will often associate with wolf packs, as the wolves not only make food (such as deer carcasses) available, but also open up tough hides that the birds would not be able to penetrate very easily by themselves. Ravens have been observed to reveal the location of prey by calling, thereby making hunting easier for the wolves, and improving the chances of a meal for themselves." from [link]

Much kind of lighter picture than i normally do :P this was originally in b&w, but it lacked atmosphere.
Cos i haven't been well lately (nothing serious) i haven't really been able to do much artistically so mostly i've been putting finishing touches on some older and incomplete images (this being one of them). The rest will probably turn up in my scraps gallery.

I was watching robins find worms for crows a couple of days ago, then when flocks of starlings tried to take over, the crows and robins teamed up to keep them from monopolizing. :)

He is very cool. You know that he also lived in the forests of Idaho for two years, living like a wolf, right down to eating raw meat, and he was accepted into a wild pack? :wow: I thought that was amazing.

I know, it sounds incredible! I was just amazed at how he managed to infiltrate a wild pack that had never really seen humans before. :D You should have a look for the book; really think you'd enjoy it. I read it in about two days =P

yup... i've always liked stories about feral children too, who were raised by wolves. That really amazes me.
i've still got a book to read about animal spirit totems, but once i've finished that, i will maybe get this one too :)

For some reason it reminds me on Ulver-songs. dunno why.
But it's a really beautyful image...I -especially- like the glowing of the stars, shining through the myst of the majestic(al?) mountains...such beauty can only exist in nature.

Hmm, maybe cause they often had wolves on certain images on their booklets/artwork in their BM-phase.

No problem! yes, it is very inspiring to take a walk in nature and just to look at every little detail...

You do the kind of "dark" art I always like best. It's definitely dark, in both senses of the word, but it has its own internal light and it rarely seems meant to be depressing... Just exploring what happens in the nocturnal places in our hearts and minds...Not always Super-Yay-Happy stuff, but always beautiful.

Ravens were also known to have followed armies because in the aftermath they would glut themselves. Vikings had raven banners because of this association. The Irish Goddess of death and war, Morrigan, was also associated with the Raven due to these qualities. Good picture.

Yes, Hugin and Munin, Thought and Memory (if my memory serves). Good call. Ravens were symbols for Valkyries, the chooser of the slain.
